FREDERICK COUNTY, MD. — – Three people are injured, including a nurse who stopped to help after a serious crash and then accidentally jumped over the jersey wall and fell 100 feet into the river in Frederick County early Wednesday morning, Frederick County Fire said.
The crash involving a tractor trailer hauling asphalt and a dump truck happened on westbound of I-70 at the Monocacy River Bridge around 4:51 a.m., officials said. Maryland State police said the tractor trailer jackknifed and the dump truck then overturned and caught on fire.
Witnesses say the dump truck was going westbound very slowly with no lights on.
A female nurse stopped to help, ran up to the scene and jumped over a jersey wall. Police said she thought there was a median on the other side. The woman fell between 100 – 200 feet. She was transported to the hospital.
