Poll: Do you agree with breaking SUV’s windows during N.J. fire response?

Firefighters rushed to a pre-dawn blaze, a fire at a vacant house was extinguished and nobody was injured. Overall, the response by Pennsauken crews could be considered a success.

There’s just one thing: Did they have to break two windows on an illegally-parked car to douse the fire?

“This person made the conscious decision to park in front of the fire hydrant. Windows can be replaced; people cannot,” Pennsauken fire Chief Jospeh Palumbo said.

  1. Why is this article even written. Common dam sense THERE ARE MARKED AREAS IN FRONT OF HYDRANTS…. and your asking ” Did they have to break the windows” YES CAPTAIN OBVIOUS! I’d go farther an fine the idiot who parked there!

  2. Yes! My dad was director of the fire service where I live. His policy was to do the same. People are more important than windows and a life can’t be brought back. Charges should go the the idiot that parked there!

  3. Life’s tough. It’s even tougher when you’re stupid. If you park in front of a fire hydrant, which is illegal, you deserve to be ticketed and towed. Except if it’s an emergency like this and then you should have windows broken first, then ticketed and towed and fined heavily.

  4. Of course! It serves this fool right. It’s illegal to park in front of a hydrant. They should have also gotten a ticket too.

  5. The fire department did the right thing. The person parking in front of the hydrant is at fault, also deserves a LARGE ticket. Yea for the fire department.
