Poll: Do you agree with breaking SUV’s windows during N.J. fire response?

Firefighters rushed to a pre-dawn blaze, a fire at a vacant house was extinguished and nobody was injured. Overall, the response by Pennsauken crews could be considered a success.

There’s just one thing: Did they have to break two windows on an illegally-parked car to douse the fire?

“This person made the conscious decision to park in front of the fire hydrant. Windows can be replaced; people cannot,” Pennsauken fire Chief Jospeh Palumbo said.

  1. Absolutely people’s lives are at stake knock them out and explain to them later the error of their ways

  2. I agree whole heartedly with the firefighters decisions. They did what they had to do to get the job done. The car was parked illegally in front of the hydrant. Next time, maybe they will think twice before they park where they’re not suppose to.

  3. Considering everyone knows its against the law to obstruct a hydrant. Consider the design also the feed line has to run straight into hydrant. Hell i think the car owner was i’d have requested the police and had the car towed. Just a pity we would get so much grief as fire fighters here in Scotland. But ignorance breeds contempt and hopefully this hard line lesson will make people stop and think

  4. Um, doesn’t law say to NOT park beside a fire hydrant?! So, duh! YES! I agree! smh. People are so not the brightest bulbs in the packs these days!

  5. Agree. It is illegal to park in front a hydrant for a reason. Did this jackass not care that lives could have lost because of his arrogance?
